The Theocracy of the Pale is a nation dedicated to Rao, god of reason, to the exclusion of all other forms of faith and worship. That the people have taken a fanatic and rigid world view in direct opposition to the ideals of Rao is an irony which still baffles scholars. Prior to his quiet overthrow, the Theocracy was ruled by Ogon Tillit, the Supreme Prelate. The government is now headed by Veredix the Warped, although some hint that he is merely a puppet for a mysterious wizard known as Arthur.
