The '''Theocracy of the Pale''' is a nation dedicated to [[Rao]], god of reason, to the exclusion of all other forms of faith and worship.  That the people have taken a fanatic and rigid world view in direct opposition to the ideals of [[Rao]] is an irony which still baffles scholars.  Prior to his quiet overthrow, the Theocracy was ruled by [[Ogon Tillit]], the Supreme Prelate.  The government is now headed by [[Veredix the Warped]], although some hint that he is merely a puppet for a mysterious [[wizard]] known as [[Arthur]].
